2020 ARLE Application Period

PennDOT will be accepting applications for the 2020 Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) Funding Program from June 1st through July 1st.

Applications can be submitted electronically through the DCED Single Application for Assistance at https://www.esa.dced.state.pa.us/Login.aspx

New this year:

  • Applications will now be submitted using the Electronic Single Application for Assistance. Information for how to complete the application is in the Program Guidelines.
  • Applicants are asked to provide information on the safety benefits of the proposed project by selecting an applicable Crash Modification Factor. Refer to the Program Guidelines for more information. Project scoring heavily considers the safety benefits of the proposed project. 
  • Applicants are asked to provide roadway/intersection geometric and traffic data, which will be used to evaluate safety performance of the project location.
  • Applicants are strongly encouraged to complete the Project Scoping Form prior to the full application to confirm eligibility and feasibility of the project scope. 
  • Projects involving traffic signals are required to update traffic signal information in PennDOT's Traffic Signal Asset Management System (TSAMS) upon completion of projects, including, but not limited to, upgrading, replacement, installation or removal of signal structures, equipment, signal-related components, controller, battery backup, detection system, emergency vehicle preemption, signal retiming and pedestrian signals.
