PennDOT recently published Change #3 of Publication 408/2020, which includes completely rewritten specifications for traffic signals to conform with current national standards and industrial requirements. Traffic signal specifications are now in Sections 950 through 958, and electronically powered signs are in Sections 935 and 936. Section 1104 is being deleted entirely. The section numbering changes will clarify how the specifications related to the master items in ECMS. The updates were prepared with input from traffic signal stakeholders and vetted through a multi-step Clearance Transmittal process.
The new specifications will be effective October 8, 2021.
