TSAMS Update 9/6/22

PennDOT's Traffic Signal Asset Management System (TSAMS) has been updated on September 6, 2022 with the following features:

  • Several enhancements were made to the response maintenance records:
    • For PennDOT-owned signals, new functionality to create work authorization linked to PennDOT maintenance contracts was added, including e-mail and text notifications when work authorizations are created.
    • Response maintenanace activities designed for workflow starting from issue identification, assigning to maintenance personnel or contractor, tracking maintenance activities and components repaired or replaced, and documenting quantities of items used for cost reporting.
    • New fields added to response maintenance records:
      • "Reported by" now includes a drop down list for a category of how the issue was identified/reported: police, system alert, public complaint, preventative maintenance check, agency staff, another agency, or other.
      • "Reported By - Name," "Reported By - Email," and "Reported by - Phone" added to track contact information for the individual reporting the issue to allow communication of status updates.
      • "Date Reported" and "Time" added with a "Now" button to enter the current time when the issue is reported.
      • "Primary Issue" added with a drop-down list of common issues
    • Maintenance Status now records time-stamped history of status changes instead of just tracking the current status of the issue. Added new status indicators for "Contractor Notified" and "Contractor Acknowledged," which can be used for tracking repsonse times related to contractual requirements.
    • Maintenance Activity screen no longer requires all fields to be entered before saving to allow technicians to enter information as they complete work.
  • Multiple document upload has been improved by allowing the attributes for each document to be edited immediately after editing. Click "Update All" to save the attributes for all documents at the same time. The document upload now allows files with special characters in the filename.
  • The last permit revision date can now be deleted to allow for correcting errors
  • Signal IDs were shortened to only include the last 6 digits (without leading zeros) to improve legibility and reduce clutter.
  • The Location Map panel is expanded by default whenever performing a search.
  • Several back-end bugs were fixed.

As always, please feel free to contact us at signals@pa.gov with feedback on these changes and/or requests for future enhancements.
